Established in the early years of 20th century in NhaTrang - a city of blue sea and white sand, Michelia with its formerly named La Fregate managed by Mr and Mrs Tules Forse, became a remarkable destination with 13 bedrooms and a 80-guest capacity restaurant for tourists to NhaTrang. After 2 years of refurbishment, in 1968, Mr and Mrs Tules Forse reopened the hotel with 30 spacious and cozy bedrooms. The second refurbishment in 1972 turned La Fregate into one of the most beautiful and famous hotels to the residents of and tourist to Nha Trang back then.
 
Majority of the guests were the French authorities, foreign investors and business men since La Fregate belonged to the former government. In April 1976, a year after the Independence Day, the hotel was run by the Khanh Hoa Tourism Company instead of the State. On 03 January 1999, the company was privatized with Michelia - a new name for the hotel managed by Thang Loi Tourism Company. Until 2006, the Board of Thang Loi Tourism Company decided to rebuild and upgrade the hotel from 68 to 201 bedrooms in order to be qualified for 4-star standard. Michelia was designed with European architecture and now provide the service with European standard.
